Connor Stultz Selected as a KU Student Housing Leader

2013 Oct 10

Student Housing at the University of Kansas named its 2013-14 student leaders. Leadership in the halls includes resident assistants for KU's eight residence halls, proctors and food board managers for 12 scholarship halls, and top officers for the four housing government organizations. More than 175 KU students were selected for these positions, including Connor Stultz, of Shawnee.

Stultz is a resident assistant in Jayhawker Towers.

"This is an extraordinary group of students who are selected to fulfill these important leadership roles," said Diana Robertson, director of KU Student Housing. "Their balance of academic achievement and service to their fellow residents is an indicator of their character and quality. We are pleased that Student Housing can offer students both academic support and leadership opportunities. We're thankful for their service."

Resident assistants and proctors receive extra training. They implement a curriculum that emphasizes social responsibility, serve as role models, meet with residents to discuss academic goals and build relationships among residents. Food board managers also coordinate menu planning and food purchasing for their assigned halls. Hall officers are elected to represent their fellow student residents, advocate for residents and plan social activities with them.

About 5,200 people live in KU student housing facilities, Robertson said. The top 1 percent of these students, based on community leadership, are eligible for membership in the KU chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary.
