Karen Lewis of Lawrence Honored During University of Kansas Women's Recognition Program

Karen Lewis, of Lawrence, was honored during the annual University of Kansas Women's Recognition Program, which was April 3 at the Kansas Union in Lawrence.

Lewis, a graduate of Calumet High School and junior studying environmental studies, won Outstanding NonTraditional Woman Student.

In total there were six new Women's Hall of Fame inductees and 18 women honored with one of the 14 Women's Recognition Awards in addition to the 20 outstanding females in on-campus housing or sororities honored.

These awards were established to honor KU female students, staff, faculty and alumnae who have enriched and improved the campus and community through their service, teaching or involvement. The program is sponsored by the Emily Taylor Women's Resource Center, the Commission on the Status of Women and the Office of Diversity and Equity.
